Frequently Asked QuestionsREGISTRATIONI am an Orlando student and want to host people, what do I need to do? |
Have a different question? |
Register for the conference - there will be questions during registration that you can answer to sign up to be a local host.
Am I allowed to attend Meta Student Conference if I didn't register ahead of time?
Yes! You can register as a walk-on BUT the cost increases and the hotel housing option might be sold out SO don't wait if possible.
Am I allowed to cancel my registration?
Yes, you can cancel for a full refund by October 15, 2019 at 11:59pm ET.
If you cancel between the date above and October 17 at 11:59pm ET, we will offer a partial refund, however the deposit is non-refundable and non-transferrable. If you registered as a commuter or for local host housing, you will receive a 50% refund.
Cancellations later than October 17 at 11:59pm ET will be offered no refunds.
If you would like to cancel your registration at any time, contact the Registrar.

I have questions about the registration process, who can I talk to?
Your local staff or small group leader will be the best person to contact first; but if they do not have the answers, you can email the, Meta Student Conference Registrar by clicking here.
PAYMENT
I have a remaining balance for registration, what do I do?
You will have to pay the remaining balance in order to participate in the conference. You can log into your account and pay the remaining balance before you arrive by clicking here. Or you can pay in person when you check into the conference using cash, check or credit card. (Note: If you are able to pay before you arrive, the check in process will be much faster for you!)
Can I pay my remaining balance when I arrive?
Yes, you can pay with cash, credit card or check in person during check-in on site.
I used a scholarship code to register but I just received an email saying I owe a balance, what happened?
The code given to you by your staff is a temporary code to bypass the registration deposit. If you are getting a scholarship from your school or InterVarsity chapter (make sure you check in with your staff about this), the code will be taken out and the scholarship will be applied to your balance. You will be responsible for paying any remaining balance after scholarship is applied. If there is a discrepancy or incorrect balance listed, please contact the registrar. In this process, you may receive two separate emails - one saying that you owe the total amount, then a later email that reflects the scholarship you are receiving.
Do I need to bring any extra money?
Yes! You will have an opportunity to give towards the IFES offering, buy books from the book table, and buy a conference shirt.
HOUSING
I'm not from Orlando, where am I sleeping?
You have several different housing options for Meta Student Conference. You should select one of these when you register.
- You can select "Hotel" when you register and you will be housed in a room with other students. See Vital Details for more information about the hotel housing.
- You can also select "Local Host" when you register. If you choose this option, you will be housed by another student or local family for the conference. We will connect you with your host when you arrive.
- You can also select "Commuter" when you register. If you select this option, you are responsible for finding your own housing. Meta Student Conference WILL NOT provide housing for you. However, there are lots of hotel and AirBnB options in the area.
I signed up to stay at the hotel, can I choose my roommates?
Your staff will be submitting a rooming list by Oct 16th. If you have a roommate preference, talk to your staff. There is also a place in the registration form where you can list your roommate preference, which we will do our best to accommodate but cannot guarantee. As you consider your possible roommates, especially if you are an older IV student or leader, think about how you can host new students well (maybe invite a new student to be your roommate!).
I signed up to stay at the hotel, how do I check in?
You can check in to your hotel rooms at the hotel either before or after the Friday night main session. You will also be able to check in for the conference at the hotel.
I signed up to stay at the hotel - what is the name and address of the hotel?
The La Quinta Inn, 5621 Major Blvd, Orlando, FL 32819
I'm staying at the conference hotel - do I need to bring any bedding or towels?
No, the hotel will have bedding and towels. However, keep in mind that if you signed up for quad occupancy, you will be sharing a bed with another student. If that weirds you out, then bring your own bedding to sleep on the floor.
I'm staying at the conference hotel - will there be a fridge or microwave in my room?
Yes! The hotel rooms at the La Quinta have both a small fridge and a microwave.
I registered for a local host home, when and how do I connect with my host?
We will try to email you with your host's name and contact information a few days before the conference to connect you to your host. We will also have a table at the church during check-in for you to get more information about your housing.
I'm staying at a local host home, do I need to bring any bedding?
It is safest to bring a sleeping bag or blanket and towels. We will send you host information a few days before the conference so you will be able to coordinate directly with your host about what bedding and towels will be available for you to use.
I registered as a Commuter, but now I need housing. What do I do?
Talk to your IV Staff. Some schools are getting their own housing together as a group. If you are local and signed up as a commuter, look at the SCHEDULE and make sure you know when to arrive at the conference each day. You can also find arrival times and addresses in the VITAL DETAILS.
SCHOLARSHIPS & COST
What does the cost include?
No matter which housing option you signed up for, the Conference fee covers program & materials for the conference, Saturday lunch, and Sunday lunch. If you signed up to stay at the conference hotel, your breakfast on Saturday and Sunday is also covered.
Are there scholarships available for this conference? How do I get one?
Yes, there are scholarships available. Talk to your local InterVarsity staff or small group leader.
I'm a faculty advisor helping to get scholarship money from SGA for this conference:
Who should the school make the check out to? |
InterVarsity Christian Fellowship
|
Does the school have to mail the scholarship check or can I give it in person when we arrive at the Conference? |
You can give the check in-person during check-in. Please have a list of student names (first and last) that the check covers
or email the conference registrar to request an address for mailing a check ahead of time. |
Can I pay for students with a school credit card or purchasing card? |
Yes, there are two ways you can do this:
1. You will need the student with you as they register and you will fill in the credit card info directly. 2. Or you can have all of the student's registration information and you register for them. Once the student arrives at the conference, they will be required to sign a waiver. |
I am writing a proposal for SGA funding, what information will I need? |
We understand that many proposals will be made in order for students to get money from their schools. Here is some information that may make your job a little easier as you turn in your requests to SGA.

FOOD, WHAT TO BRING, ETC.
What is the address for the conference?
The addresses can all be found on the VITAL DETAILS page.
What meals are included in the conference fee?
Everyone will receive lunch on Saturday and Sunday. Unless you are staying at the hotel, all other meals are on your own. If you are staying at the conference hotel, breakfast is provided by the hotel on Saturday and Sunday. It will be crowded, so make sure you go early! Saturday dinner will be with your campus group. Talk to your InterVarsity staff about what to expect.
I have food allergies or food restrictions (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, etc.) What should I do?
We will do our best to accommodate food restrictions for the included meals. In order for us to accommodate any food restrictions, you MUST indicate your food needs during the registration process. If you do not indicate your needs during the registration process, you will be responsible for providing your own food. Should you need to communicate more, you can email the Conference Director.
What should I bring to the conference?
A few things that might make the experience better:
- Bible
- a notepad or journal
- pen/pencil
- money for meals not included in the conference cost
- thin jacket/sweat shirt in case it's cold in the building
- (local host option only) a sleeping bag or sheets and a towel.
- (optional) a little extra money to give towards the IFES offering, buy books from the book table, and buy a conference shirt.
