THE STORY OF GOD
IN US. |
Have you or someone you are investing in, experienced abuse, betrayal, or something that has damaged the heart deeply? Come learn how abuse, betrayal and shame affect the soul. Learn what God made us for, and how to find healing from Jesus for you and others.

Do you get overwhelmed reading the Bible? It’s full of obscure cultural references, poems, prophecies, laws, and stories that don’t seem to relate to each other. But the Bible is less confusing than people think. This seminar will help you break it down so you can see how it all fits together as one story. By the end of this seminar, you’ll be able to tell the entire story of the Bible in 5 minutes. Maybe you don’t consider yourself a Christian and just want to better understand the Bible. Maybe you’ve been a Christian your whole life but want to take a fresh look at the Bible as a unified story. Either way, this seminar is for you.

In a culture when women were considered lesser than, Jesus points toward a different perspective. If anything, the Bible shows us how integral women were to both his life and his ministry. Come join us as we explore what Jesus has to say on this topic and seek answers to our questions -- What misconceptions do we have about women and Christianity? What do we have to learn through Jesus' counter-cultural, and often radical encounters with women? How does it relate to us today?

The believer often finds themselves in the tension of living in between churches that demonize sex and a secular world that worships sex. The lack of conversation and infectious legalism surrounding sex in the church can leave us consumed in shame and confusion. The secular world’s tendency to define and live out sexuality on its own terms can leave us adrift and dissatisfied. Both scenarios leave us far from Jesus. What if God did not intend for us to be trapped in either of these extremes? God created us as sexual beings in whatever context we’re in--in singleness, in dating, and in marriage. What if he intended for us to have clarity around who he is and who we are as sexual beings no matter what our relationship status is?
|
As awareness of the stories and struggles of the LGBTQI+ community has grown over the past few decades, the Church has been torn as to how to interpret biblical passages on sexuality. What does the Bible actually say about same-sex relationships? If the Church's views on issues like slavery and women have changed, then what about its views on committed same sex relationships? These questions need careful answers. They also demand that we look not only at the question of same-sex relationships, but at the entire biblical framework of human sexuality. What assumptions do we have about sexuality that aren't found in Scripture? What are God's purposes for sexuality? Join us as we examine the theology of human sexuality.

Do you desire to see a greater demonstration of God's power in your life and on your campus? Paul told the church in Corinth that his message and his preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power. The key to seeing a release of God's power is prayer. In The Power of Prayer seminar, we will be taking a glimpse into heaven as recorded in Revelation 8. John shows us a moment in heaven where there was complete silence. The occasion? God is receiving the incense of the prayers of all the saints. The results? Power is unleashed upon the earth! Join us as we learn how to tap into God's amazing power. This could transform your individual life, our campuses, and the world if we will press into prayer.

SATURDAY PM SEMINAR. |
THE STORY OF GOD
IN OUR WORLD. |
There is an arch to every story, a beginning, middle and end. In God’s grand story, His mission is central every step along the way. Every believer throughout time has been invited to play a part in God’s mission. How is God inviting you to engage his mission now? Join us as we discuss what it looks like to engage God’s mission as a college student, and leave with practical tools to help you daily be part of God’s story on campus.

Have you ever thought that if your friends could just get to know the real Jesus, they would be excited about following him? In this seminar you will learn how to help your friends meet Jesus for themselves using scripture.
|
“How can you believe in a God who murders innocent people?” “I don’t want to follow your God, he’s a bully with tons of rules.” “The God of the Old-Testament is hateful and not a God of love.” These are common statements you may have heard before OR you may even believe yourself. Is this true about the God of the Bible? Do you feel lost in how to respond to these challenges— maybe even finding yourself more skeptical of the God you claim to believe? What if there are ways you can understand these verses in light of God’s entire story? What if you can have intelligent yet grace-filled conversations with your friends? Come be equipped to engage in meaningful conversations with your friends as we explore and grow in understanding around some of the most challenging passages of the Bible.

In an increasingly diverse society, we regularly encounter people not just from different ethnicities and cultures, but also diverse in socioeconomic class, gender, education, age, ability, religion, and … It is these overlapping social identities that we call “intersectionality”. As followers of Jesus, how do we navigate such complex social realities as we seek to love God and love people? In this seminar we hope to help you become more competent leaders postured in humility, grace, and a growing social awareness as you seek to impact the diversity of your campus.

Our culture often looks at work as something to avoid. How do we work less? How can I work enough now so that I can retire early and not have to work anymore? However, God offers a much different picture of what work can look like. Join us as we explore how Jesus is calling us to faithfully follow Him into our workspaces and speak to the Kingdom coming through our everyday jobs.

Immigration isn’t primarily political. Jesus himself was an immigrant coming from heaven to earth. He crossed the biggest divide of all time to settle in a foreign land that he was not from. Scripture is full of migration and an immigrant experience, but here in North America, we have unfortunately let politics and government shape our views on immigration instead of scripture and the life of Jesus. What happens when our faith begins to shape our engagement with the immigration conversation? How does it open our eyes to new possibilities on how to reach our campuses and love our peers? Let’s engage this topic together. You may just find out that you too aren’t a native of this land.

Throughout history students have been at the center of movements for racial justice and civil rights around the world. In each generation the Church has either championed the cause of justice, ignored the conversation, or actively resisted changing the status quo. What about today? Is racism still an issue in 2019? Would Jesus engage in non-violent protest? How can we pursue biblical justice on campus? In this seminar you are invited to participate in conversation with a diverse panel of movement leaders who will share their wisdom and experience as agents of reconciliation in an age of polarization.

Jesus said that the second greatest commandment is to "love your neighbor as yourself." Almost a quarter of the earth’s human population is Muslim. If we want to follow Jesus, this is a community we are called to love. In this seminar, you will learn why loving this community is important, what Islam is, and how to share the hope of Jesus with these neighbors of ours.
